Two major additions to the programme for the Brigantes Breakfast

Dear Liveryman

We are delighted to announce two major additions to the programme for the Brigantes Breakfast at The Royal Armouries, Leeds, on Friday 25 May, as follows :

Principal Speaker – General the Lord Dannatt GCB CBE MC DL
The Principal Speaker at this year’s Brigantes Breakfast will be General the Lord Dannatt GCB CBE MC DL, Chairman of the Royal Armouries. Lord Dannatt was a soldier for forty years concluding his military career as Chief of the General Staff – the professional head of the British Army.

Since retiring from active duty in 2009, Lord Dannatt was Constable of the Tower of London until July 2016 and, from July 2011, has been an independent member of the House of Lords. Lord Dannatt is a frequent commentator on defence and security issues in the media, is on a number of boards in the private and charitable sectors, and holds several other appointments including President of Help for Heroes.

Introduction to the Royal Armouries – Liveryman Dr Karen Watts, Curator Emeritus
At 10.30, in the Bury Theatre on the ground floor of the Museum, Dr Karen Watts, Curator Emeritus of the Royal Armouries and a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Gold and Silver Wyre Drawers, will give a 30 minute illustrated talk about the Museum and curious armour through the ages, following which there will be just over an hour before the 12.15 reception to visit some of the Museum’s superb galleries and exhibits.

Due to the capacity of the Bury Theatre, we are limited to 200 places, on a first come first served basis. If you would like to attend the talk at 10.30, please complete the section towards the bottom of the booking form.
