The Worshipful Company of Tax Advisers

CITY OF LONDON

Founded 1995 & Incorporated by Royal Charter 2009

The Worshipful Company Of Tax Advisers Charities:

Tax Advisers Benevolent Fund (TABF) and Tax Advisers Charitable Trust (TACT)

One of the main objectives of all livery companies is charitable works. The Worshipful Company of Tax Advisers is proud to support that tradition through its two charities, and also through members providing their time to support those in need.
Company Freemen and Liverymen support the Company's two related charities:

The Tax Advisers’ Benevolent Fund. "Registered Charity No. 1049658"

Tax Advisers’ Charitable Trust. "Registered Charity No. 1064392"

Being a new Company, there are no substantial endowments upon which to call and hence all members are expected to contribute generously to one or both of the funds to enable the charities to fulfil their objectives. The trustee of each charity is the Company. The activities of the charities are overseen by the Charities Committee, which comprises members of the Court and members of the Company experienced in charitable matters.

The Tax Advisers' Benevolent Fund

The main objective of the Tax Advisers' Benevolent Fund is to provide assistance by way of information, support and grants to members, former members and their dependants of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) and the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) who are in need.

It also provides grants to CIOT and ATT students who are unable to afford the fees payable and certain other costs necessary in order to sit the examinations. These include the CTA, ADIT (the Advanced Diploma in International Taxation), and DITT (the Diploma in Tax technology) from the CIOT, and the ATT qualification and foundation exams.

The TABF financial statements are available here.

The Tax Advisers' Charitable Trust

This is a general charitable fund, which supports a number of tax-related, and City causes, including education and the preservation of tax history. It supports TaxAid and Tax Help for Older People - the charities that provide help to those who need tax advice but cannot afford it.

Its funds are also available for benevolent purposes, which are focussed on the City of London, including the Lord Mayor’s Appeal, the Sheriffs’ and Recorder’s Fund, Mansion House Scholarship Fund, the Hackney Carriage Drivers’ Magical Taxi Tour, the Livery Food Initiative, London Air Ambulance and its Up Against Time Appeal, St. John Ambulance, the Treloar Trust and many other causes that make London a better place in which to live, work and to visit.

The TACT financial statements are available here.
