Weekend Walk - Sunday 17 March 2019
The short-ish walk from Richmond to Osterley Lock and Boston Manor, along the Thames and up the Grand Union Canal, was enjoyed by our largest grouping yet in this series of walks.
The sun shone for almost the entire length of the walk itself, although threatening clouds could be seen in the distance, which deposited their hailstones whilst we enjoyed a hearty pub lunch and perhaps encouraged us to linger longer there than we might otherwise have done.
Spring was definitely in the air as we threaded our way down the banks of the River Thames, where a heron was sighted perching on a post – but of the seal reportedly sighted further down the Thames earlier in the week, there was no sign. The dereliction of some of the warehouses just round the corner along the Grand Union Canal was quite a contrast.
A good time was had by all.
