Old Bailey

On Tuesday 2 May, the Master attended a lunch at the Old Bailey as guest of Sheriff William Russell. The lunch was attended by 4 other guests and around 20 Judges. The Judges were on their lunch break having been in Court that morning and after their hour was up, disappeared off to preside over the afternoon’s business. Institute of Apprenticeships

The Master and Clerk attended the launch for the Institute for Apprenticeships at Mansion House on 18 April 2017. 

The Institute’s main role is to oversee the developments of the new apprenticeship standards ensuring quality is present at every level including at the very important end point assessment of the training. Emphasis was placed on this by the speakers at the launch; The Rt Hon the Lord Mayor, Alderman Andrew Parmley; the Chair of the Institute, Anthony Jenkins and the Minister for Skill and Apprenticeships, Robert Halfon MP. …link

Brigantes Golf Day at Ganton – Tuesday 25 April 2017 : Victory for a Fueller, two Framework Knitters and a Clockmaker

The Brigantes Golf Day for City of London Liverymen, held over the Championship links of Ganton Golf Club in North Yorkshire, attracted competitors from Clubs as far afield as the Scottish Highlands in the north and the Kent coast in the south. Tower Bridge Tour

On Tuesday 11 April, the Master and 15 members and guests visited Tower Bridge for a guided tour.

Starting in the North tower, we visited the Tower Bridge Exhibition and viewed films, animations and interactive displays giving insights into how and why the Bridge came into existence. We then walked across the high-level Walkways and experienced the Bridge’s latest “wow” factor - walking across the glass floor, a unique viewpoint in the high-level Walkways, 42 metres above the River Thames. …read more

Corporation of London – 1067 Charter Lecture

On Monday 3 April, the Master and Clerk attended an excellent lecture on the 1067 Charter granted to the City by William I.

The Charter is presently on display for a limited time in the Guildhall Art Gallery. It is a rare example of a small succinct declaration the granted so much to the City of London. …read more

On Friday 31 March the company took part in the 75th United Guilds Service at St Pauls Cathedral. 21 members and guests of the company attended with the Master, Upper Warden and Clerk joining all other Livery Masters, Upper Bailiff and Wardens to wear full livery regalia of gowns and badges.
