True and Fair Lecture

The Master and Clerk attended the annual "True and Fair" lecture hosted by the Worshipful Company of Chartered Accountants at Chartered Accountants' Hall, which this year was given by the Lord Mayor, Alderman Charles Bowman on his "Business of Trust" agenda. Charles is half way through his term of office, so it was an opportunity for him to take stock. Guest of the Marketors

The Master attended an Annual Service of Thanksgiving and Rededication of the Worshipful Company of Marketors at St Bride's Church in Fleet Street, followed by their Spring Luncheon at Stationers' Hall. Thames River Police Museum

A group of intrepid Tax Advisers visited the Thames River Police Museum in Wapping to discover more about our oldest Police Force, organised by Liveryman Peter Allen. Our guide, Rob, regaled us with fascinating stories from the Force's history, and we had the opportunity to look round the museum at the end of the talk. The terms "station" and "beat" come from the fact that the police were originally river rather than land based, and the Force is still in action today, currently known as the Metropolitan Police Marine Policing Unit. …read more
