United Guilds' Service & Lord Mayor's Banquet

At a meeting of the Masters and Prime Wardens of the Great Twelve Companies, held at Goldsmiths’ Hall, on 1st February 1943, it was decided to hold a service in St Paul’s Cathedral for the Livery Companies and Guilds of the City of London. The idea behind the service was to help lift the spirits of the City following the Blitz during the Second World War. The Right Honourable The Lord Mayor of London, Sir Samuel Joseph, attended along with the Sheriffs and Court Aldermen and the Right Reverend The Lord Bishop of London , Dr G. F. Fisher, preached the sermon. As far as records show, this was the first occasion on which all the Livery Companies and Guilds of the City combined to hold a religious service. Since then, it has become an annual event and remains one of the few occasions in the calendar at which the Livery Companies and Guilds of the City can gather together as a whole. …read more

WW1 Remembrance Garden and Mansion House Scholarships

The Master and Clerk attended the opening of a WWI remembrance garden by the Lord Mayor and then, on the same evening, a drinks reception for the Mansion House Scholarship scheme which has been regularly supported by the Worshipful Company of Tax Advisers. Modern Livery Companies' Dinner

The Master and Upper Warden attended a dinner organised by the Worshipful Company of Water Conservators at Watermen's Hall. These events happen twice a year and are organised by each of the Modern Livery Companies in turn. They are a great way for Upper Wardens to meet Liverymen from other Companies who are likely to be Master in their year. …read more

Guest of the Hackney Carriage Drivers

The Master and Clerk were invited to dine at Carpenters' Hall by the Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers, and the Master had the pleasure of sitting next to the inspirational Phil Davis, who set up the Magical Taxi Tour, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The Magical Taxi Tour takes children with life threatening illnesses to Disneyland Paris for a couple of days. This charity is regularly supported by the Worshipful Company of Tax Advisers as well as several other Livery Companies. …read more

Budget Banquet

The Tax Advisers held their annual Budget Banquet at Merchant Taylors' Hall on 7th March, at what was a sell out event. Our guest speaker was Dame Valerie Strachan former head of Customs and Excise who spoke about "Life After Tax", and we also heard from   Lt Cdr William Blackett from HMS Bangor regarding what our affiliation means to them. The fabulous Renatus Harris organ was played by Edward Dye, and the musical entertainment was provided by Crispian Steele- Perkins and Leslie Pearson. …read more
