Guest of the Hackney Carriage Drivers

The Master and Clerk were invited to dine at Carpenters' Hall by the Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers, and the Master had the pleasure of sitting next to the inspirational Phil Davis, who set up the Magical Taxi Tour, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The Magical Taxi Tour takes children with life threatening illnesses to Disneyland Paris for a couple of days. Budget Banquet

The Tax Advisers held their annual Budget Banquet at Merchant Taylors' Hall on 7th March, at what was a sell out event. Our guest speaker was Dame Valerie Strachan former head of Customs and Excise who spoke about "Life After Tax", and we also heard from   Lt Cdr William Blackett from HMS Bangor regarding what our affiliation means to them. The fabulous Renatus Harris organ was played by Edward Dye, and the musical entertainment was provided by Crispian Steele- Perkins and Leslie Pearson. …read more

The Master and Clerk were recent guests of the Worshipful Company of Vintners at their junior Livery Dinner. The Vintners are one of two Livery Companies still involved with Swan Upping, and although no actual swan was served, we did consume butter and chocolates in the shape of swans. London Metropolitan Archives

An intrepid group of Tax Advisers and their guests recently visited the London Metropolitan Archives in Clerkenwell.

The London Metropolitan Archives is run by the City of London Corporation and is home to an amazing range of documents, images, maps, films and books about London, and the guided tour, specially organised for our Company members included time with one of the conservators, who had recently worked on Charters from the Worshipful Company of Tallow Chandlers (seen in the photograph here). Some Livery Companies store their records and archives at the London Metropolitan Archives building, where they can be professionally conserved. …read more
