The Barbican

On Tuesday 5 September, a small group of members attended the Architectural Walk of the Barbican.

Army Cadet Force Camp

On Sunday 20 August, the Master and Clerk were guests of the London North East Sector Army Cadet Force at their summer camp. The annual camp this year was held at Shrewton, Wilshire and was attended by around 260 cadets and 100 instructors. During the day we entertained to displays of drill, shooting, motor cycling and outdoor team building and leadership skills. The day finished with a tug of war completion and prize giving. The Master was very pleased to present  an award to the best cadet at camp and also another to the cadet appointed as the Lord Lieutenant’s cadet. …link

Masters Weekend

Over the weekend of 22 and 23 July, the Master entertained 50 company members and guests to his home town of Southend-on-Sea.

The day started well with bright sunshine to accompany the members setting off from Leigh-on-Sea station for a tour of the town in a vintage Routemaster bus. We toured the seafront areas and enjoyed the views across the estuary. Our first stop was Southend Pier, the longest pleasure pier in the world at 1 ¼ miles long. Here we were greeted by the Southend Town Crier before a tour of the Pier Museum and a train ride to the end of the pier. The weekend had been planned to coincide with a high tide making the pier trip the more enjoyable and, given the wonderful weather, some decided to walk back to shore rather than let the train take the strain.. …read more
