Civic Lunch

Girdlers HallOn 19 June the Master hosted our annual Civic & Charities Lunch at Girdlers’ Hall.

The lunch was attended by about 100 members and guests who enjoyed the fabulous surroundings of Girdlers’ Hall, with a reception in the garden in blazing sunshine followed by lunch in a wonderful air conditioned hall featuring the magnificent Girdlers’ Carpet.

Our principle guest was Sheriff Alderman William Russell who received cheques from the company towards the Lord Mayor’s 2017 Appeal and the Sheriff and Recorders Fund. The Master also presented cheques to Alan Roughan, Master Hackney Carriage Driver towards their Magic Taxi Tour to Disneyland; Lt Col Larry Davis Commandant City of London & North East Sector ACF towards their units Summer Camp; and to our Tax Charities, Valerie Boggs from TaxAid, Mark Tipping from Tax Help for Older People and Stephen Banyard from Bridge the Gap.

The Master spoke about the activities of the company charities, where we get our income from and how we distribute grants and donations. Whist the Tax Advisers have relatively small funds in livery terms, we do distribute our funds across a wide spectrum of receipients with life changing results.

The Master was presented with a specially commissioned glass plaque from Lt Col Larry Davis as a thank you and in recognition of the support the company has given to his unit over the years. This plaque will be displayed in our display cabinet at Information Technologists Hall.
